The Catalogue is a site dedicated to helping roleplays get their name out into the public and to hopefully get more active members. Although we mainly focus in roleplaying we do assist sites whose focus is not on roleplaying. We have many boards for guests and members alike to look through and to hopefully find that roleplay that they were looking for.
Along with that we have boards devoted to helping you roleplay get its feet off of the ground and just to have a friendly chat with other members. Whatever your needs are, have a great stay.

Admin's Pick - Site of the Week
« Thread Started on Mar 27, 2008, 6:34pm »

As some of you may have already found out the site of the month is actually a site owned by me *shiftys eyes* and that needs to go haha xD Shameless plugging, sorry about that.
Anyways, instead of Admin's Pick I was hoping to do something like a site of the week kinda deal, but I know that some other popular rpg listings sites do that like the directory and the collection. My oringal idea was to have an auction thing where you would get 3 points for every post you made (except the games area) and there would be a thread where you could auction off your points to get the spot in the header.
Basically let's say everyone loves it and we start doing it tomorrow.
Friday March 28 the auction starts and you would post saying something like
"Bid- 10 points" or just "10 points" but your FIRST post has to include the code to your site's banner and it must have The Catalogue's banner up there first (of course <3). Also any site posted in the board must have our banner because it is "advertising" in a sense. So you must have the code in your first post that way staff can quickly change banners and we don't have to worry about the whole mess of PMing people and waiting for the code etc. We all have lives =].
So Planet X wins the auction (I won't bid no worries) and the banner gets put up March 28. The first bidding thread is locked and a second one is put up automatically starting bidding for the next week.

I hope I explained this in a non confusing way, any questions please feel free to ask =] I know I can ramble in my ideas ;]. Also ... thoughts?

That sounds fine to me. So basically can someone outbid the other, and then the original person could come back and outbid them? So would it be more of a e-bay type thing? Also, if that's the deal it'll be like you have to be on to say who the winner is. =/

Or maybe you can have it like ...

People have to advertise to get a banner up there, and also would have to link to all places they advertised ( and to that thread of course ) and then limit it to maybe 5 banners a week could win. It would get The Catalogue's name out there, and get their site advertised. ^^

Hmm I still don't quite see how I would have a say on who wins. It would be the person who bidded the most at the end, but I could be totally missing something mind giving an example =].

That could be something that would work *thinks*. I think I'm still leaning towards the bidding idea though.
